Deimos 0.8 Beta

Tried it out on a WinXP Pro machine. Disabled old version then did a fresh install. Have to report that when the installation completed I pressed the Run button and nothing happened. I can see that its running by using the task manager but there's no way I can actually see what's happening as there's no Taskbar icon.

Could you post the contents of C:/Documents and Settings/username/.deimos-ui/log.txt?
Does closing deimos-ui.exe and restarting it works?

I don't see any log that location. However, after a couple of reinstalls I'm now getting this message.

This Application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Have tried several reinstallations , without any success.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/1/c/e1c773de-73ba-494a-a5ba-f24906ecf088/vcredist_x86.exe

you need that mate

installed and running fine, however I don't like that it created a new computer entry instead of using the same one.

Perhaps a 64-bit machine?

The VS2008 SP1 Redis is needed, you can find it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

It's already included in the installer so normally it should work when you run the installer. However it may not work with 64-bit.

O.K, I need to look into this, downloaded and ran the update from Microsoft in the link you provided but it couldn't run as I don't have Visual Studio 2008 on my PC!

I'll report back once I get a chance to look into it.

Don't have 64 bit, Just 32 bit WinXP Pro SP11

Pete

Hmm, Am I missing something here, Visual Studio 2008 costs over 230 British Pounds, about 400 dollars.

Pete

Oops, wrong link. I meant the Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable

If Deimos still fails after that, please lookup the error in the Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc)

Cappy and 350Z: Try the following by doing these steps:

1. Completely kill/close deimos-svc.exe, deimos-ui.exe and deimos-desktop.exe
2. Install the VS2008 SP1 Redis
3. Remove the three msvc*.dll files
4. Try again :)

If that fails, it's missing some DLL... Please run Dependency Walker to find out exactly which DLL's. I'll add it to the installer then.

Also, try the new 0.8.07. If we are lucky, this fixes it :)

deimos-desktop-0.8.07_x86.exe

New version doesn't fix it..... Dependency Walker said that DWMAPI.DLL Is missing

Damn. Well, that isn't it because DWMAPI.DLL is something specific for Windows Vista (DLL for shiny effects).

What does Event Viewer say?

O.K, It's working now.....but, there is a problem with the links. If I click on my user name in the dashboard I get this link http://deimos-project.net/user/350Z which doesn't work same goes for The computer link http://deimos-project.net/stats/350Z/blade and also the link from the taskbar icon. To get on this site I have to type in http://deimos-project.net/ and view my stats from there. Other than that it looks really good!!
