Hardware Issue

Due to a hardware failure I've had to replace the motherboard and CPU on one of my machines. I'm now getting an instant crash of the Deimos service on Startup. Here's the log.

This is the interesting one....No GetLogicalProcessorInformation available: unable to count the number of physical processors,

The CPU is an AMD II X2 250, Is this one in the database? Strange that it's saying the same thing about The GT 240, it's the same card that was in before and it was reported O.K then

Cheers,

Pete

Don't worry, this is a not a problem.

GetLogicalProcessorInformation is only available on Windows Vista and later. It can still detect the number of cores but it won't be accurate at computers with multiple processors and cores. Generally people only have 1 processor so this still works.

Deimos keeps an own database of all videocards because many videocards don't report a "readable" name for themselves. If the videocard is not found in the database, it will simply show the name that the card reports. In your case it's a good name.

O.K, but the problem is that it crashes to the desktop. If I go into Admin tools, Services and restart the service it crashes almost straight away with one of those boxes that asks if you want to send a report to Microsoft. I've tried re installing different versions of Deimos but I'm still getting a crash. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Pete

EDIT, I'm going to do a repair install of XP shortly as there are a couple of other issues.

2nd EDIT, That fixed it:). I think some files were corrupted or lost when the motherboard failed.

Oops, I read over the first message about the crash.

In any case, it's good that your problem is now fixed. I suppose you don't know which files were corrupted?

Some of the files relating to the network were lost when the machine locked up. A capacitor had blown....
